Chavez Wants To Seize Venezuela’s Golf Courses

November 2, 2010

Hugo Chavez is a nut of the highest order, but this time even he has gone too far: He wants the government to appropriate Venezuela’s golf courses:

President Hugo Chavez said some of Venezuela’s golf courses should be expropriated and used for other purposes.

“That’s an injustice—that someone should have the luxury of having I don’t know how many hectares to play golf and drink whiskey and, next door, there’s misery and children dying when there are landslides,” Chavez said during his weekly television show, “Alo, Presidente.”

At least we can rest assured that idea won’t be coming to the United States. Obama—whatever his other faults—is a dedicated golfer. According to news reports, he’s played 52 rounds in less than two years in office.
